Alex G. Fisher is a managing partner for Marquette Associates. An owner of the firm, Alex joined the company in 2013 through the merger with Archstone Portfolio Solutions, which he co-founded in 2006. He serves as the primary investment consultant on several of the firm’s relationships.
Alex has 50 years of experience in investment management. Prior to forming Archstone Portfolio Solutions, he served as the vice chairman of Mercantile Bankshares’ $45 billion Investment & Wealth Management Division, after serving in roles ranging from portfolio manager to the head of the personal trust department and Private Wealth Management Group. Previously, Alex served in a wide range of investment management roles, including CEO of Chapin, Davis & Co., Inc., a Baltimore investment banking boutique; CEO of a Baltimore real estate holding company; co-founder and director of marketing for Calvert Investment Counsel; managing partner of an Owings Mills, MD land development company; and equity research analyst for Kidder, Peabody & Co. in New York. He also previously served as an advisory board member of an equity long/short hedge fund and is a past board member of a private investment company. He earned his B.S. in finance from the University of Virginia with distinction.
A lifelong resident of Baltimore, Alex has dedicated many hours to community service with a wide variety of organizations. He is the co-founder and current CEO of BMoreAg, a Baltimore-based benefit LLC committed to revitalizing Baltimore through modern urban agriculture. Alex is also a member of the Dean’s Global Leadership Council at the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources, University of Maryland; a member of the board of directors and past treasurer of the Baltimore Tree Trust; and President Emeritus of the Maryland Center for History and Culture. Previously, he served as a member of the Gilman School Alumni Board of Governors; trustee of the Maryland 4H Foundation; treasurer and board member of the Valleys Planning Council; and chair of his church’s investment, stewardship, and planned giving committees. Alex is a decorated Vietnam War veteran.
