On Tuesday, July 21, Frank Valle, CFA, CAIA and Evan Frazier, CFA, CAIA will be speaking at ALTSCHI 2026, jointly produced by Markets Group, CFA Society Chicago, and the CAIA Association®.
In the morning, Frank will be moderating a keynote panel: “Alternative Credit – Navigating an Inflection Point,” described as follows: Private credit has become a mainstream asset class, drawing significant institutional capital as investors seek alternatives to volatile public markets and reduced bank lending. The market is expanding beyond direct lending into areas such as asset-based finance, commercial real estate debt, and specialty finance, while growing demand for direct lending exposure is fueling the rise of credit secondaries. At the same time, hedge funds and public market strategies are regaining attention as investors prioritize liquidity and uncorrelated returns. This session will examine the forces reshaping alternatives, including liquidity constraints, interest rate volatility, AI-driven underwriting, regulatory changes, evolving risk-return dynamics, and the growth of retail-focused products such as BDCs and interval funds. Speakers will share perspectives on capital flows, shifting risks, and what investors should watch as the alternatives landscape evolves.
Evan will be moderating a panel entitled “Real Estate Repriced – Distress, Debt, and the Search for Structural Growth” described as follows: Global real estate is undergoing a fundamental reset. Rising rates, tighter credit, and shifting tenant demand are driving repricing across sectors and creating both risk and opportunity. For seasoned allocators, this environment demands new approaches to capital deployment, portfolio resilience, and value creation. Panelists will discuss how macro and credit dynamics are reshaping real estate valuations and liquidity and how to access value through debt, preferred equity, and hybrid structures.
