On Wednesday, November 18, Brad Hampton, CAIA will be speaking at the 2026 Institutional Fall Retreat hosted by Markets Group in Amelia Island, Florida.
Brad will be moderating a panel entitled “Fixed Income: Trends Shaping Today’s Landscape,” described as follows: Today’s fixed income market raises important questions about the value of active management, the role of systematic strategies, and where discretionary judgment remains essential. This moderated discussion will examine how quantitative approaches use data, technology, and repeatable signals to identify opportunities across term structure, carry, momentum, relative value, and risk premia. Panelists will consider where these tools are most effective, particularly in liquid, transparent markets such as Treasuries, agencies, core fixed income, and investment-grade credit. The discussion will also explore their limitations in high yield, bank loans, emerging market debt, and private credit, where liquidity constraints, idiosyncratic risk, valuation opacity, and downside asymmetry may require deeper fundamental analysis. The panel will conclude by examining why the active-versus-passive debate differs in fixed income.
