Marquette Speaking at KORIED 2025 Plan Sponsor Educational Institute 1/21–24
December 06, 2024
Lee H. Martin, Ph. D. and Patrick W. Wing, CFA, CIPM will be speaking at KORIED’s 2025 Plan Sponsor Educational Institute, held January 21–24.
Lee will be joining a panel entitled, “A Risky World: The Need for Diversifying Strategies,” described as follows: Today’s global financial markets face a confluence of factors, making their paths forward highly unpredictable and volatile. This uncertainty heightens the need for a well-diversified portfolio that can withstand the inevitable shocks to come. Some of these factors are:
- Uncertain environment for equities given high valuations, an uncertain inflation outlook, and a new administration.
- Normalization in interest rates and an election cycle in the rear-view mirror may soon enable corporate event activity to rise.
- Wider valuation dispersion continues to present long and short opportunities.
- With a slowing economy, an increased likelihood of a larger stressed/distressed debt opportunity is on the horizon.
- Continued uncertainty around geopolitics and central bank policies around the globe should continue to create opportunities for skilled international managers.
This panel represents a broad cross-section of the markets and will seek to address these market dynamics.
Pat will be joining a panel entitled, “Fixed Income Investments: Strategies for a New Era,” described as follows: Fixed income has sometimes been overlooked in favor of equities and alternatives and similar instruments as less appealing. This panel will discuss the implications of declining interest rates and practical strategies in this new environment.
