CHICAGO, February 25, 2012 – Marquette Associates, Inc. today announced that Dave Smith, vice president, has been chosen as one of the 2013 Rising Stars of Public Funds by industry peers and the publishers of Institutional Investor. This is the second year in a row that a Marquette investment professional has been honored with the award.
Dave Smith, CFA is among 13 emerging industry leaders to be chosen as a 2013 Rising Star of Public Funds – an up-and-coming professional in the public fund community who has achieved demonstrable success in their career to-date. Criteria include performance, innovative investment strategy and outstanding client service. He will be honored at Money Management Intelligence‘s 12th Annual Public Pension Fund Awards, to be held March 13 at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa in Huntington Beach, CA. The ceremony is held in conjunction with IMN’s Public Funds Summit, a major gathering of the U.S. public pension fund investment community.
In his role at Marquette, Dave serves as the lead investment consultant on several of the firm’s relationships. He is also the vice chair of the traditional investment manager search committee. Prior to joining Marquette, Dave was a vice president of institutional sales at Northern Trust Global Investments where he was responsible for marketing to significant institutional investors. He began his career at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange with a derivatives trading firm. Dave holds a B.S.B.A. in finance from the University of Richmond and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Chicago.
Kelli Schrade, who leads investment manager research for Marquette, was honored as a 2012 Rising Star of Public Funds.
