CHICAGO, January 17, 2014 – Marquette Associates, Inc. today announced the election of four new managing partners to strengthen firm leadership. Greg Leonberger, David H. Smith, James Wesner and Miguel Zarate have all been added to the ranks of firm equity owners as of January 1, 2014.
“Our tradition of expanding ownership as we grow is a commitment to both the continuity of leadership among our team and for our client relationships,” said Brian Wrubel, chief executive officer for Marquette. “All four new partners have used their considerable industry expertise to help lead the firm and provide industry-leading client service.”
Greg Leonberger joined Marquette from Hewitt Associates, where he served as an actuarial consultant for nine years. At Hewitt, Greg consulted on all aspects of pension and post-retirement welfare plans, including funding, accounting, strategy, design and regulatory compliance. He is the director of research for Marquette Associates, with responsibility for creating the firm’s capital markets research and directing investment strategies and policy. Greg is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an enrolled actuary and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
David H. Smith joined Marquette from Northern Trust Global Investments, where he served as a vice president of investment relations, responsible for developing business among significant institutional investors. David began his career at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange with a derivatives trading firm. He is the lead investment consultant on several of the firm’s relationships and serves as the vice chair of the traditional investment manager search committee. David was named as a 2013 Rising Star of Public Funds by Money Management Intelligence.
James Wesner joined Marquette from the Debt Capital Markets division at Banc of America Securities. Prior to Banc of America, Jamie held positions with Nuveen Investments and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He serves as an investment consultant on several of the firm’s relationships. Jamie also serves on the firm’s alternative investment manager search committee. He is a board member of One Acre Fund.
Miguel Zarate joined Marquette from Marco Consulting Group, where he served as a senior vice president and senior consultant. Prior to Marco, Miguel was with Atlas Technology Group, a management consulting firm. He serves as the primary investment consultant on several of the firm’s relationships, with a focus on Taft-Hartley clients. He has more than ten years of experience in the investment consulting industry. Miguel serves on the Ambassadors of Mercy board at the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
The firm now has 15 equity partners.
