Nat Kellogg, CFA

Nat Kellogg is the president of Marquette Associates. An owner of the firm, Nat has 22 years of investment experience and has been with the company since 2010. As president, Nat assists the executive committee in managing day-to-day activities critical to executing the firm’s strategic plan, maintaining a positive culture, and executing on strategies to improve client results. Nat is the chair of the firm’s OCIO committee and also serves on the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion committee, investment committee, traditional and alternative investment manager search committees, sustainable investing group, and nonprofit services group.

Before joining Marquette, Nat was a senior equity analyst at Hudson Securities covering the electrical equipment and basic materials sectors. Previously, Nat was an equity analyst at Brait Specialized Funds, a small-cap focused long/short equity hedge fund.

Nat holds a B.A. in history from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Chicago.

Greg Leonberger, FSA, EA, MAAA, FCA

Marquette’s Director of Research, Greg is a fully credentialed actuary and has over 20 years of investment experience.

Greg Leonberger is the director of research and a managing partner for Marquette Associates. An owner of the firm, Greg has been with the company since 2008 and has 25 years of investment experience. He leads the firm’s capital markets research and directs investment strategies and policies. He chairs the firm’s investment committee and also serves on the OCIO and defined contribution committees and the nonprofit services group. He has authored numerous papers on portfolio strategy, asset allocation, and liability driven investing, and regularly consults with clients on these topics.

Prior to joining Marquette, Greg was an actuarial consultant at Hewitt Associates for nine years where he consulted on all aspects of pension and postretirement welfare plans, including funding, accounting, strategy, design, and regulatory compliance.

Greg holds a B.S. in mathematics and economics from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. with honors in analytic finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Greg is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an enrolled actuary, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.

David Hernandez, CFA

David Hernandez is the director of traditional manager search for Marquette Associates and has 15 years of investment experience. He joined Marquette in 2009 and oversees the manager due diligence and recommendation process for all traditional asset classes. David is the chair of Marquette’s traditional investment manager search committee, works with each of the asset class leads on manager due diligence coverage and priorities, and helps set the priorities and direction for the group. He is also a member of the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion committee, investment committee, and sustainable investing group.

David holds a B.S. in finance from DePaul University and an M.B.A. from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago.

Jessica Noviskis, CFA

Jessica Noviskis is the associate director of alternatives for Marquette Associates and has 16 years of investment experience. She joined Marquette in 2020 and provides thought leadership on alternatives investing and capital markets research. Jessica is responsible for leading the due diligence of alternative strategies, providing guidance on product selection, and developing actionable views based on a macroeconomic and capital markets outlook. She is the chair of the firm’s alternative investment manager search committee and a member of the investment committee and OCIO committee.

Prior to joining Marquette, Jessica was a senior analyst at 1060 Capital Management where her team managed a long/short equity hedge fund. Previously, she was a vice president at Brookfield Investment Management and an analyst at Artisan Partners.

Jessica holds a B.B.A. in finance, investment and banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S.M. in finance analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Lubar School of Business. She is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago.

Frank Valle, CFA, CAIA

Frank Valle is the associate director of fixed income for Marquette Associates and has 17 years of investment experience. He joined Marquette in 2022 and provides thought leadership on fixed income research and capital markets research. Frank is responsible for leading the due diligence of fixed income asset managers, providing guidance on product selection, and developing actionable views based on a macroeconomic and capital markets outlook. He is a member of the firm’s investment committee and traditional investment manager search committee.

Prior to joining Marquette, Frank was an investment director covering U.S. investment grade credit for Aviva Investors Americas. Previously, he was a senior consultant in fixed income research at Aon as well as a senior client advisory analyst. He began his career with LaSalle Futures Group.

Frank holds a B.B. in finance from Western Illinois University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Frank is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago. He also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation and is a member of the CAIA Association®. Frank volunteers as team captain for St. Clement Parish’s Annual Service Day and as a coach for the Oak Park-River Forest Little Huskies youth wrestling team, an affiliate of Beat the Streets Chicago.

Evan Frazier, CFA, CAIA

Evan Frazier is a senior research analyst for Marquette Associates and has seven years of investment experience. He joined the firm in 2020 and is responsible for conducting due diligence on hedge fund products and managers, as well as developing macroeconomic and capital markets research. He is a member of the firm’s investment committee and traditional and alternative investment manager search committees.

Prior to joining Marquette, Evan was an associate consultant at a wealth advisory firm.

Evan holds a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Kenyon College. Evan is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago. He also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation and is a member of the CAIA Association®. Evan serves on the Associate Board and as a volunteer with Open Books.

Amy Miller

Amy Miller is a senior research analyst for Marquette Associates and has 24 years of investment experience. She joined the firm in 2020 and is responsible for conducting due diligence on private equity products and managers, as well as developing macroeconomic and capital markets research. She is a member of the firm’s investment committee and alternative investment manager search committee. Previously, Amy was a consultant at Marquette.

Prior to joining Marquette, Amy was the private markets investment manager at Drexel University’s Endowment, where she was responsible for portfolio strategy, manager sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring of the private markets investments. She also has experience working at various investment management firms, where she has served in portfolio management and investor relations roles, providing operations management consulting to private equity-backed businesses, and in the public sector serving as an investment officer for a large municipal pension plan.

Amy holds a B.A. in mathematics from Millersville University and an M.B.A. in finance from the Fox School of Business and Management at Temple University. She is a member of the Women’s Association of Venture and Equity and the Private Equity Women Investor Network (PEWIN).

Chad Sheaffer, CFA, CAIA

Chad Sheaffer is a senior research analyst for Marquette Associates with 13 years of investment experience and works from our Philadelphia office. He joined the firm in 2022 and is responsible for conducting due diligence on private credit products and managers as well as developing macroeconomic and capital markets research. He is a member of the firm’s investment committee and alternative investment manager search committee.

Prior to joining Marquette, Chad was an investment officer at Haverford College, where he primarily conducted multi-asset manager research for the endowment portfolio. Previously, he was a portfolio manager at Hirtle, Callaghan & Co., an outsourced CIO.

Chad holds a B.S. in business administration, summa cum laude, with concentrations in finance and international business from Drexel University. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Philadelphia. Chad is also a CAIA charterholder and a member of the CAIA Association®.

Catherine Hillier

Catherine Hillier is a senior research analyst for Marquette Associates and has nine years of investment experience. She joined the firm in 2022 and is responsible for conducting due diligence on U.S. equity managers as well as developing macroeconomic and capital markets research. She is a member of the firm’s investment committee and traditional investment manager search committee.

Prior to joining Marquette, Catherine was a mutual fund and ETF research analyst at Raymond James Financial. She previously was a senior research analyst at Transamerica Capital.

Catherine holds a B.S. in microbiology and cell science from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado.

James Torgerson

James Torgerson is a research analyst for Marquette Associates and has six years of investment experience. He joined the firm in 2022 and is responsible for conducting due diligence on fixed income managers as well as developing macroeconomic and capital markets research. He is a member of the traditional investment manager search committee.

Prior to joining Marquette, James was a consultant in fixed income manager research at Aon, advising a broad institutional base of public and corporate retirement plans, endowments and foundations, and corporate operating assets on fixed income investments and asset managers.

James holds a B.B. in economics with emphases in monetary and international economics and a B.B. in finance from Western Illinois University, where he was also an NCAA Division 1 football player.
